Kinzhal

Kinzhal is a Russian hypersonic air-launched ballistic missile. The name Kinzhal translates to "dagger" in Russian. It is believed to have been developed from the Iskander ballistic missile family. The Kinzhal missile is capable of carrying both conventional and nuclear warheads. It is launched from modified MiG-31K fighter jets, as well as Tu-22M3 bombers.

The primary advantage of the Kinzhal is its speed. It is reported to travel at speeds up to Mach 10, or ten times the speed of sound. This extreme velocity, combined with its maneuverability during flight, makes it exceptionally difficult to intercept with current missile defense systems. The missile is designed to engage both static and moving targets, including aircraft carriers and ground-based radar installations.

Reports suggest that the Kinzhal entered service with the Russian Aerospace Forces around 2017.
