Kiinnittänyt

Kiinnittänyt is a Finnish verbal form derived from the verb kiinnittää, meaning "to attach, fasten, secure" or "to pay attention." Grammatically it appears as the perfect active participle (commonly used in the perfect tense) and as an adjectival past participle. In finite perfect constructions it occurs with the auxiliary olla (to be): esimerkiksi Hän on kiinnittänyt taulun seinään ("He/she has attached the painting to the wall"). As an adjectival participle it can describe a resultant state: Kiinnittänyt huomionsa henkilö ("the person who has attracted attention").

Formation follows regular Finnish perfect morphology: verb stem + -nut/-nyt ending (kiinnittä- + -nyt). The choice of -nyt reflects vowel harmony and stem phonology. Kiinnittänyt contrasts with the passive past participle kiinnitetty ("attached" in passive or resultative sense) and with the anticausative/mediopassive kiinnittynyt (meaning "has become attached" or "is attached to").
