Kenchoji
Kenchoji is a prominent Zen Buddhist temple located in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It is the leading temple of the Rinzai school of Zen Buddhism in the Kamakura region and holds the distinction of being the first of the Five Great Zen Temples of Kamakura. Founded in 1251 by the regent Hojo Tokiyori, Kenchoji was initially established as a place for prayer for the repose of the souls of the imperial family.
