Kamovs

Kamov is a Russian aerospace engineering company known for its innovative helicopter designs. Founded by Nikolai Kamov, the company has a long history of developing specialized rotorcraft for various military and civilian applications. A hallmark of Kamov helicopters is their distinctive coaxial rotor system, where two main rotors spin in opposite directions on the same mast. This configuration eliminates the need for a tail rotor, offering advantages in terms of compactness, maneuverability, and reduced vibration.

The company's product line includes a range of helicopters, from compact reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare aircraft to larger transport and utility models. Notable Kamov designs include the Ka-27 series, a widely used naval helicopter for anti-submarine and search and rescue operations, and the Ka-50/52 "Black Shark" and "Alligator" attack helicopters, which are among the few single-seat and side-by-side two-seat attack helicopters produced. Kamov has also developed civilian variants and experimental aircraft. The company is a subsidiary of the United Aircraft Corporation.
