Kamerleden
Kamerleden are members of a parliament or legislative assembly, specifically those in the Tweede Kamer der Staten-Generaal, the lower house of the Dutch parliament. They are elected representatives responsible for debating and voting on laws, scrutinizing government policy, and representing the interests of their constituents. The number of Kamerleden is fixed at 150, and they are elected through a proportional representation system. Each Kamerlid belongs to a political party, and these parties form parliamentary groups within the chamber. Kamerleden engage in parliamentary debates, ask questions of ministers and state secretaries, and can propose amendments to legislation. They play a crucial role in the Dutch democratic process, ensuring accountability and legislative oversight. The term "Kamerlid" literally translates to "Chamber member."
