Kaatopaikkakäsittely, also known as landfill management or landfill treatment, refers to the processes and techniques used to manage waste deposited in landfills. This encompasses the initial planning and design of a landfill site, the methods used for waste disposal, and the ongoing monitoring and post-closure care of the site. The primary goals of kaatopaikkakäsittely are to minimize environmental pollution, particularly of soil, groundwater, and air, and to ensure the long-term stability of the landfill.

Key aspects of kaatopaikkakäsittely include site selection, which involves geological and hydrological assessments to prevent contamination.
