Jäähdytyskoneikko

Jäähdytyskoneikko, often translated as refrigeration unit or chiller, is a device designed to remove heat from a specific space or substance, thereby lowering its temperature. It operates on the principle of a thermodynamic cycle, typically the vapor-compression refrigeration cycle, although other cycles like absorption refrigeration also exist. In a vapor-compression system, a refrigerant circulates through a closed loop, undergoing phase changes and pressure variations to absorb heat from the cooled environment and release it elsewhere. The key components include a compressor, condenser, expansion valve, and evaporator. The compressor increases the pressure and temperature of the refrigerant vapor. The condenser then releases heat to the surroundings, causing the refrigerant to condense into a high-pressure liquid. The expansion valve reduces the pressure and temperature of the liquid refrigerant, preparing it to absorb heat in the evaporator. Finally, the evaporator absorbs heat from the medium to be cooled, turning the refrigerant back into a low-pressure vapor, and the cycle repeats.
