Jogforrásokat

Jogforrásokat refers to sources of law in Hungarian legal terminology. These are the origins and foundations from which legal norms and rules are derived. Understanding jogforrásokat is crucial for comprehending any legal system, as it clarifies where legal authority originates and how laws are created and applied.

In Hungary, the primary jogforrásokat include the Constitution (Alaptörvény), which serves as the supreme law of the land. Acts of Parliament (törvények) are another significant source, representing legislation passed by the National Assembly. Government decrees (kormányrendeletek) and ministerial decrees (miniszteri rendeletek) also fall under this category, providing more detailed regulations for specific areas.

Beyond these formal legislative sources, judicial decisions (bírósági döntések) can also be considered jogforrásokat, particularly in their role of interpreting and applying the law, and in some instances, setting precedents. International treaties (nemzetközi szerződések) ratified by Hungary also become part of the domestic legal order and function as jogforrásokat. The concept encompasses all authoritative pronouncements that create, modify, or extinguish legal rights and obligations within the Hungarian legal framework.
