JG2
JG2, also known as the Jagdgeschwader 2, was a fighter wing of the Luftwaffe, the air force of Nazi Germany, during World War II. It was formed on 1 October 1939, and its primary role was to provide air superiority over the Western Front. The wing was initially equipped with the Messerschmitt Bf 109, a highly successful and widely used fighter aircraft of the era. JG2 played a significant role in the Battle of Britain, where it was credited with shooting down a large number of British aircraft. The wing was also involved in the Battle of France and the subsequent invasion of the Low Countries. JG2 was disbanded on 15 September 1940, after the fall of France. The wing's legacy includes its contributions to the early successes of the Luftwaffe and its role in the development of air combat tactics.
