Itoften

Itoften is a fictional coastal village created for encyclopedia-style articles about rural development. It is located in the archipelago of Noreldor in the northern part of Veridia, a fictional country.

The village covers about 12 square kilometers and sits at the mouth of a sheltered inlet. The population was around 3,400 in 2020, predominantly descendants of fishing families, who speak Veridian with a local coastal dialect.

Itoften was founded in the 18th century by maritime families and historically relied on fishing and timber. In the 20th century a small port and fish processing plant emerged, and in the 2000s tourism and crafts became important components of the economy.

Administratively, Itoften is governed by a municipal council of seven members. The town has a small harbor, a lighthouse, a church, a market square, and a primary school. It belongs to Veridia's North Noreldor province.

The town hosts an annual Market Festival in late summer. The harbor provides moorings for local ferries, and seafaring museums and craft shops attract visitors.
