Injektionsärmel
Injektionsärmel, also known as injection sleeves or ports, are medical devices designed to facilitate repeated access to the circulatory system for the administration of medications, fluids, or for the withdrawal of blood. They are typically implanted subcutaneously, meaning under the skin, and consist of two main components: a port reservoir and a catheter. The port reservoir is a small, self-sealing septum that can be accessed with a special non-coring needle. The catheter is a thin tube that connects the port reservoir to a vein.
The primary purpose of an injektionsärmel is to provide a reliable and convenient route for long-term therapy.
