Infusiosets

Infusiosets, also known as infusion sets, are medical devices used to deliver fluids or medications into a patient's body, typically intravenously or subcutaneously. They are an integral part of many medical treatments, particularly for chronic conditions like diabetes.

The primary components of an infusioset include a needle or catheter that is inserted into the body, tubing through which the fluid or medication travels, and a connection point to an infusion pump or bag. For subcutaneous infusions, such as those used in insulin therapy, the set consists of a small cannula that is inserted under the skin and connected to tubing that runs to an insulin pump. This allows for continuous or on-demand delivery of insulin.

Intravenous infusion sets are used more broadly in hospitals and clinics. They connect a fluid bag or syringe pump to a vein via an IV catheter. These sets are crucial for administering antibiotics, chemotherapy, pain medication, and rehydration fluids. Different types of infusiosets exist, varying in length, gauge of the needle or catheter, and the presence of features like filters or backcheck valves to prevent backflow.
