The term itself is a portmanteau, combining "indiscreet" to suggest a lack of fine detail or separation, and "topologia" referring to the study of spatial properties that are preserved under continuous deformations.

In a topological context, indiscreettopologia might describe a space where distinct points are indistinguishable or where topological properties that are normally sensitive to small changes become insensitive. For example, a very coarse topology, where only the empty set and the entire space are open, could be considered to exhibit indiscreettopologia as it collapses any finer distinctions between subsets.
