Indexerad

Indexerad is a Swedish term formed as the past participle of the verb indexera, meaning that something has been assigned an index or linked to an index. The adjective can describe a document, dataset, financial instrument, or other object that has been indexed.

In information management and library science, indexering refers to creating searchable entries that describe the content of a document to enable faster retrieval. This includes indexing in databases (creating indexes on fields), full-text indexing, and metadata tagging. An indexed item is easier to search for using keywords or specific metadata.

In finance and economics, indexerad is used to describe assets or contracts whose value or payoff is tied to an external index, such as a price, inflation, or an equity index. Examples include indexerade obligationer (index-linked bonds) and indexerade pensionsplaner, where payments adjust according to an index.

Other uses can be found in statistics and wage policy. In statistics, data can be indexerad to reflect a mapping to an index, while in labor economics the term löneindexering describes wage adjustments tied to an index such as inflation.
