Ihotulehduksien refers to inflammations of the skin. These conditions can manifest in various ways and have numerous causes. Common symptoms include redness, swelling, itching, and sometimes pain or the formation of blisters or pus.

Causes of skin inflammation are diverse and can include infections, allergic reactions, irritants, and underlying medical conditions. Bacterial infections, such as impetigo, or fungal infections, like ringworm, are common culprits. Allergic contact dermatitis occurs when the skin reacts to an allergen, such as poison ivy or certain metals. Irritant contact dermatitis arises from exposure to harsh chemicals or substances that damage the skin directly.

Other conditions that cause skin inflammation include eczema, also known as dermatitis, which is a chronic condition characterized by itchy, inflamed skin. Psoriasis is another inflammatory skin disease that causes red, scaly patches. Acne, rosacea, and insect bites can also lead to skin inflammation.

Diagnosis typically involves a visual examination of the affected skin, and sometimes further tests like skin scrapings, cultures, or patch tests may be necessary to identify the cause. Treatment varies depending on the underlying reason for the inflammation. It may involve topical creams or ointments, oral medications, antibiotics, antifungals, or lifestyle adjustments to avoid triggers. In many cases, prompt and appropriate treatment can alleviate symptoms and prevent complications.
