The IPPC stamp, also known as the "HT stamp" or "MB stamp," is a mark indicating that wood packaging material has been treated according to the International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM 15). This international regulation aims to prevent the spread of pests and diseases through wood packaging.

There are two primary types of treatment recognized by the IPPC: Heat Treatment (HT) and Methyl Bromide (MB) fumigation. The stamp will typically include the abbreviation "HT" for heat-treated or "MB" for methyl bromide-treated. It also includes a country code (e.g., DE for Germany, US for the United States), a unique producer or treatment provider identification number, and the IPPC logo, which is a stylized sheaf of wheat.

Wood packaging material that has not been treated and marked according to ISPM 15 is subject to confiscation, re-treatment, or destruction at international borders. This can lead to significant delays and costs for businesses involved in international trade. The IPPC stamp ensures that the wood packaging has undergone the necessary treatment to be considered phytosanitary safe for international shipment.
