Höyrystämistä

Höyrystämistä is the Finnish term for vaporization. It refers to the process where a substance in a liquid or solid state changes into a gaseous state due to an increase in temperature and/or pressure. This transformation occurs when the substance reaches its boiling point, where its vapor pressure equals the surrounding environmental pressure.

In everyday life, boiling water is a common example of vaporization. The heat added to the water increases the kinetic energy of its molecules, allowing them to overcome intermolecular forces and escape into the air as steam. This process is fundamental to many natural phenomena, such as the water cycle, where water evaporates from oceans and lakes.
