Höyläämistä

Höyläämistä is a Finnish term referring to the process of planing, a woodworking technique used to smooth or flatten a surface of wood. This is achieved by using a hand tool called a plane, or a power tool known as a planer. The plane has a sharp blade set at an angle that shaves off thin layers of wood as it is pushed across the surface.

The primary purpose of höyläämistä is to remove imperfections, warp, or unevenness from a piece of lumber. It can also be used to shape wood, create bevels, or reduce the thickness of a workpiece.
