Hydronüümid

Hydronüümid are a rare and exceptional type of meteorite that falls on Earth after originating from space. These meteorites are composed primarily of hydrous minerals, such as serpentine and talc, which contain varying amounts of water within their crystal structures.

The term "hydronüümid" is derived from the Greek words "hydor," meaning water, and "nüümid," a colloquial term referring to meteorites. This nickname was coined by Estonian meteoriticist Enn Sein to describe the distinctive properties of these extraterrestrial bodies.

Hydronüümid meteorites are formed during the early stages of planetary development when asteroids containing water and hydrated minerals are altered by heat and pressure.
