Htközegtováltást, also known as heat transfer, is the movement of thermal energy from a region of higher temperature to a region of lower temperature. This process is fundamental in many natural phenomena and engineering applications. There are three primary mechanisms by which heat transfer occurs: conduction, convection, and radiation.

Conduction is the transfer of heat through direct contact between particles. In solids, vibrations of atoms and molecules are passed along from one particle to another. In liquids and gases, collisions between molecules also facilitate heat transfer. Materials that conduct heat well are called thermal conductors, while those that resist heat flow are thermal insulators.

Convection involves the transfer of heat through the movement of fluids, such as liquids or gases. When a fluid is heated, it becomes less dense and rises, while cooler, denser fluid sinks, creating a convective current. This process is responsible for phenomena like weather patterns and the heating of water in a pot.

Radiation is the transfer of heat through electromagnetic waves, such as infrared radiation. Unlike conduction and convection, radiation does not require a medium to transfer heat. The sun's energy reaches Earth through radiation, and all objects above absolute zero temperature emit thermal radiation.
