Homeostáticos
Homeostáticos refers to the processes by which living organisms maintain a stable internal environment. This internal stability, known as homeostasis, is crucial for survival and optimal functioning. Think of it as a constant balancing act. Various physiological mechanisms work together to regulate parameters like body temperature, blood sugar levels, pH balance, and fluid concentration. For example, when your body temperature rises, your homeostatic mechanisms trigger sweating to cool you down. Conversely, if your temperature drops, you might shiver to generate heat. Similarly, the pancreas releases insulin or glucagon to keep blood glucose within a narrow range. These systems are dynamic, constantly adjusting to internal and external changes. Disruptions to these homeostatic processes can lead to illness or disease. The ability to maintain homeostasis is a hallmark of life and a testament to the intricate regulatory systems evolved within organisms.
