Hipotenüstür

Hipotenüstür is a Turkish verb phrase used in geometry to state that a given side of a right-angled triangle is the hypotenuse. It combines the noun hipotenüs (hypotenuse) with the suffix -tür, which marks a definitional predication, so the phrase functions like “is the hypotenuse.”

In Euclidean geometry, the hypotenuse of a right triangle is the side opposite the right angle and is the longest side of the triangle. If a triangle has legs a and b and hypotenuse c, then a^2 + b^2 = c^2. Thus, c is the hypotenuse.
