Helfrichin
Helfrichin is a naturally occurring chemical compound belonging to the germacrane sesquiterpene lactone family. It was first isolated from plants in the Helfrichi genus. These compounds are characterized by a ten-membered ring structure and an exocyclic lactone ring. Helfrichin has been studied for its potential biological activities. Research has explored its effects as an anti-inflammatory agent and its cytotoxicity against certain cancer cell lines. The specific mechanisms by which helfrichin exerts these effects are still under investigation. Its chemical structure and the presence of an alpha,beta-unsaturated carbonyl system are thought to play a role in its reactivity and biological interactions. Further research is ongoing to fully understand the therapeutic potential and limitations of helfrichin.
