Hebel

Hebel is a term that can refer to several different things. In German, hebel means lever, a rigid bar that pivots on a fulcrum to multiply force; in physics, the lever is one of the six classical simple machines. The word appears in German technical terms such as Hebelgesetz, the law of the lever.

Hebel is also a German surname. Notable bearer include Johann Peter Hebel (1760–1826), a German poet and writer known for his Alemannic poetry and moral tales that reflect rural life in the Baden and Alemannic regions.

Hebel, Queensland, is a small town and locality in the Shire of Paroo, in southwestern Queensland, Australia, near the border with New South Wales. It is one of several place names carrying the Hebel label and serves as a local community within the region.

In construction, Hebel is a trade name for autoclaved aerated concrete blocks, marketed in Australia by CSR Limited under the Hebel brand. These lightweight, insulating blocks are used for building walls and are valued for energy efficiency and fire resistance.
