The primary goal of a heatutilizer is to convert low-grade or high-grade waste heat into a usable form of energy, thereby reducing the need for primary energy sources and lowering operational costs.

Common types of heatutilizers include heat exchangers, which facilitate the transfer of thermal energy between two fluids, and heat pumps, which can upgrade low-temperature waste heat to a higher, more useful temperature. Organic Rankine Cycles (ORCs) are another significant technology, allowing for the generation of electricity from low-temperature heat sources.
