Harzgerode

Harzgerode is a town in the Harz district of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated on the northern edge of the Harz Mountains, approximately 15 kilometers south of Quedlinburg. The town is known for its picturesque location and its historical significance.

Historically, Harzgerode was the seat of the Principality of Anhalt-Bernburg and later the Duchy of Anhalt-Bernburg. The most prominent landmark is Harzgerode Castle, a former ducal residence that dates back to the 10th century.
