Harzgerode
Harzgerode is a town in the Harz district of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated on the northern edge of the Harz Mountains, approximately 15 kilometers south of Quedlinburg. The town is known for its picturesque location and its historical significance.
Historically, Harzgerode was the seat of the Principality of Anhalt-Bernburg and later the Duchy of Anhalt-Bernburg.
The town itself is characterized by its well-preserved half-timbered houses, particularly in the old town area.
