HalfHD
HalfHD refers to a video resolution that is precisely half of Full HD (1080p). Full HD has a resolution of 1920 pixels wide by 1080 pixels tall. Therefore, halfHD would typically have a resolution of 960 pixels wide by 540 pixels tall. This resolution is often referred to as qHD (Quarter HD), as it is one-quarter the total number of pixels of Full HD (960 * 540 = 518,400 pixels, while 1920 * 1080 = 2,073,600 pixels). It was more common in earlier generations of smartphones and some lower-end displays where a balance was struck between visual clarity and processing power or battery consumption. While not as sharp as HD or Full HD, halfHD was considered a significant improvement over older standard definition resolutions. Today, it is largely superseded by higher resolutions like 720p (HD) and 1080p (Full HD) in most consumer electronics. However, the term might still occasionally be encountered in discussions of legacy devices or specific technical contexts.
