Hajukapasiteetin
Hajukapasiteetti, often translated as "odor capacity" or "scent capacity," refers to the maximum concentration of a specific odor that a person's olfactory system can detect. It is a measure of the sensitivity of an individual's sense of smell to a particular odorant. Unlike odor detection threshold, which is the lowest concentration at which an odor can be perceived, hajukapasiteetti indicates the upper limit of detection. Beyond this concentration, the odor may not become stronger to the perceiver, or it might even lead to olfactory fatigue or adaptation, where the perceived intensity decreases over time despite a constant or increasing concentration.
Factors influencing hajukapasiteetti can include genetics, age, physiological state, and exposure to other odors. For instance,
