HMSleder
HMSleder was a Royal Navy survey ship. Commissioned in 1945, it was a former German minesweeper named M-1502, which was surrendered to the British at the end of World War II. The ship was refitted for surveying duties and entered service with the Hydrographic Department. Its primary role involved charting coastlines and underwater topography in various regions. Throughout its service, HMSleder participated in numerous expeditions, contributing valuable data to navigational charts. The ship was equipped with a range of surveying instruments for its time. After several years of service, HMSleder was eventually decommissioned and sold. Its operational life as a survey vessel was significant in improving the accuracy and safety of maritime navigation in the areas it surveyed. The ship's history reflects the ongoing need for hydrographic surveys to support naval operations and international shipping.
