HLSn
HLSn is a protocol that extends the HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) standard to support multiple audio tracks and subtitle streams within a single HLS playlist. Traditionally, HLS has supported a single audio track and a single subtitle track per variant stream. HLSn allows for a more flexible content delivery by enabling the inclusion of multiple audio languages, descriptive audio options, or various subtitle languages and formats within one manifest file. This simplifies the process for both content providers and playback devices, as they no longer need to manage separate playlists for each audio or subtitle option. Instead, the HLSn manifest can list all available tracks, and the client device can then select and download the desired audio or subtitle stream based on user preference or device settings. This enhanced capability is particularly beneficial for international content distribution and accessibility features.
