Häiremehhanism refers to a biological or mechanical process that detects deviations from a normal or desired state and triggers a response to correct or mitigate the deviation. In biological systems, these mechanisms are crucial for maintaining homeostasis, the stable internal environment necessary for life. For example, the human body has sophisticated häiremehhanismid for regulating blood glucose levels. When blood sugar rises after a meal, specialized cells in the pancreas detect this change and release insulin, which helps cells absorb glucose, thus lowering blood sugar back to the normal range.
