Gázaiövezetben

The Gaza Strip, known in Hungarian as Gázai övezet, is a Palestinian territory located on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea. It shares borders with Israel to the north and east, and Egypt to the southwest. The area is approximately 41 kilometers (25 miles) long and 6 to 12 kilometers (3.7 to 7.5 miles) wide, covering a total area of 365 square kilometers (141 square miles).

Historically, the Gaza Strip has been a region of significant geopolitical importance and has seen various periods of rule, including by the Ottoman Empire and later by Egypt after World War I. Since the 1967 Six-Day War, it was under Israeli occupation until 2005, when Israel unilaterally withdrew its forces and settlers. Following the withdrawal, the Palestinian Authority initially assumed control, but Hamas has been the de facto governing authority since 2007.

The territory is densely populated, with a majority of its inhabitants being Palestinian refugees and their descendants. The economy of the Gaza Strip is heavily reliant on foreign aid and has faced significant challenges due to blockades and ongoing conflict. Key infrastructure includes a seaport and a small airport, though their operations have been frequently disrupted. The political situation remains complex and is a central element of the broader Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
