Gumbelin
Gumbelin is a protein found in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. It belongs to the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily, a large group of cell surface receptors that play crucial roles in signal transduction. Gumbelin is specifically involved in the development of the fly's compound eyes, which are complex visual organs composed of numerous individual units called ommatidia.
During eye development, Gumbelin acts as a receptor for a signaling molecule. Upon binding to this ligand,
