Grüning

Grüning is a municipality in the Höxter district, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated approximately 30 kilometers west of Paderborn and 30 kilometers north of Bad Salzuflen. Grüning comprises the villages of Grüning, Ehrigor, Heimdorn, Seelheim, and Wüllersberg.

The municipality is characterized by its rural setting, with rolling hills and wooded areas. The local economy relies on agriculture, particularly dairy farming and cereal production. Grüning also has a number of small-scale industrial enterprises, producing goods such as metalwork and machinery components.

Grüning has a long history dating back to the Middle Ages. Archaeological finds indicate human presence in the area from the time of the Franks. Historical records show that Grüning was first mentioned in 870 as part of a larger territory. Throughout the centuries, the municipality has been subject to various territorial changes and duchial lordships.

Grüning consists of several smaller villages, each with its own church and local communal center. The village of Grüning itself features a significant church, built in the 14th century in the Late-Brick Gothic style. Other notable architectural landmarks include the Wüllersberg Castle, a rustic watermill, and several ancient homesteads.
