Golgi funkciók refers to the various roles and activities performed by the Golgi apparatus, a key organelle within eukaryotic cells. This organelle is a stack of flattened, membrane-bound sacs called cisternae. Its primary function involves the modification, sorting, and packaging of proteins and lipids synthesized in the endoplasmic reticulum.

Upon arrival at the Golgi, proteins and lipids undergo further processing, which can include glycosylation, phosphorylation, and cleavage. These modifications are crucial for their proper folding, stability, and function. The Golgi apparatus then acts as a central sorting station, directing these molecules to their correct destinations. This can be within the cell, such as to lysosomes or the plasma membrane, or outside the cell for secretion.

Another important Golgi function is the synthesis of certain polysaccharides, particularly in plant cells where it contributes to the formation of the cell wall. It also plays a role in the formation of lysosomes and secretory vesicles, which are essential for intracellular digestion and communication, respectively. The intricate network of membranes within the Golgi allows for directional transport of molecules through its different compartments, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of cellular components.
