Glükosüübnsidemega refers to a glycosidic bond, a type of covalent bond that links a carbohydrate molecule to another group. This other group can be another carbohydrate molecule, forming a disaccharide, oligosaccharide, or polysaccharide. It can also be a non-carbohydrate molecule, such as an alcohol, amine, or thiol, in which case the resulting compound is known as a glycoside.

Glycosidic bonds are formed through a dehydration reaction, where a molecule of water is removed during the bond formation. This process is typically catalyzed by enzymes called glycosyltransferases. The reverse reaction, the breaking of a glycosidic bond, is called hydrolysis and requires the addition of a water molecule. Hydrolysis can be catalyzed by enzymes called glycosidases.

The linkage in a glycosidic bond can be classified in two ways: by the carbon atom on the non-carbohydrate molecule involved (e.g., O-glycosidic if oxygen is involved, N-glycosidic if nitrogen is involved, S-glycosidic if sulfur is involved, or C-glycosidic if carbon is directly involved) and by the anomeric carbon of the carbohydrate and the configuration of the bond (alpha or beta). For example, an O-glycosidic bond where the anomeric carbon is alpha and links to oxygen is an alpha-O-glycosidic bond.

Glycosidic bonds are fundamental in biological systems. They are the linkages that form complex carbohydrates like starch, glycogen, and cellulose from monosaccharide units. They also play crucial roles in the structure and function of glycoproteins and glycolipids, which are important in cell recognition and signaling.
