Glykosidisidoilla refers to the glycosidic bond, a type of covalent bond that links a carbohydrate molecule to another functional group. This functional group can be another carbohydrate, forming a disaccharide or polysaccharide, or it can be a non-carbohydrate moiety, such as an alcohol, amine, or thiol. The formation of a glycosidic bond involves the removal of a water molecule, a process known as dehydration synthesis or condensation. Conversely, the cleavage of a glycosidic bond, typically through hydrolysis, requires the addition of a water molecule.
