Gevinst
Gevinst is a noun used in Norwegian (and Danish) to describe profit, gain, or benefit. In economics and accounting, gevinst denotes the positive difference between revenues and costs, arising when business activities produce a surplus. A gevinst can be realized when an asset is sold for more than its book value, or it can be an unrealized gain if the value of an asset increases without a sale. In taxation, the term appears in phrases such as kapitalgevinst (capital gains) and gevinst ved realisering, referring to gains that may be taxable.
In investment contexts, gevinst is the target outcome of buying and selling assets; investors seek to maximize
In everyday language, gevinst can also mean any advantage or benefit gained from a decision or course
