GPTpartisjonspost
GPTpartisjonspost is a term that refers to a specific type of data structure used in the context of Generalized Partitioned Tables (GPT) in computer storage systems. GPT is a partitioning scheme used on hard disks and solid-state drives, replacing the older Master Boot Record (MBR) system. A GPTpartisjonspost, or partition entry, is one of the 128 possible entries in the GPT partition table. Each entry describes a single partition on the disk, including its starting and ending locations, type, and attributes. The partition table itself is stored in two locations on the disk: the Primary GPT Header and the backup GPT Header, which are located at the beginning and end of the disk, respectively. This redundancy ensures that the partition information can be recovered even if one of the headers is corrupted. The GPTpartisjonspost structure includes fields for the partition type GUID, unique partition GUID, starting and ending LBA (Logical Block Address) numbers, attributes, and a partition name. This structure allows for a more flexible and scalable partitioning scheme compared to the MBR system, which is limited to four primary partitions.
