Färgintensiteten

Färgintensitet, often translated as color intensity or saturation, refers to the purity or vividness of a color. It describes how strong or weak a color appears, independent of its lightness or hue. A highly saturated color is pure and bright, containing a significant amount of its spectral hue. Conversely, a desaturated color appears duller, more muted, and closer to gray.

The concept of färgintensitet is fundamental in color theory and visual arts. In color models, such as HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) or HSV (Hue, Saturation, Value), saturation is a distinct component alongside hue and lightness/value. A fully saturated color has a saturation value of 100%, while a completely desaturated color has a saturation of 0%, resulting in a shade of gray.

High intensity can create excitement, energy, and draw attention, while low intensity can convey calmness, sophistication, or subtlety.
