FrankKasper

Frank Kasper is a German politician and lawyer who has served as the President of the European Parliament since 2017. Born on January 22, 1963, in Berlin, Kasper studied law at the Free University of Berlin and later became a lawyer. He joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) in 1986 and has held various positions within the party, including serving as the SPD's spokesperson on European affairs from 2005 to 2017.

Kasper's political career began in the late 1980s when he worked as a researcher for the SPD's parliamentary group. He later served as the SPD's spokesperson on European affairs and was a member of the German Parliament (Bundestag) from 1994 to 2017. In 2017, Kasper was elected as the President of the European Parliament, succeeding Martin Schulz. He was re-elected for a second term in 2019.

As President of the European Parliament, Kasper has focused on issues such as climate change, digital transformation, and the European Union's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He has also been a strong advocate for the European Green Deal, a comprehensive plan to make the EU climate-neutral by 2050.
