Forralást

Forralást is a Hungarian term that translates to "boiling" or "simmering" in English. It refers to the process of heating a liquid to its boiling point, where vigorous bubble formation occurs throughout the liquid. This is a common culinary technique used for cooking, sterilizing, and concentrating liquids.

In cooking, forralást is essential for many dishes. Boiling water is used to cook pasta, rice, and vegetables. Simmering, a gentler form of forralást, is used for stews, soups, and sauces, allowing flavors to meld and ingredients to tenderize over time without breaking down too rapidly. The temperature at which a liquid boils is dependent on its composition and atmospheric pressure; for pure water at standard atmospheric pressure, this is 100 degrees Celsius (212 degrees Fahrenheit).

Beyond the kitchen, forralást has applications in sterilization. Boiling medical equipment or water for consumption can effectively kill most harmful microorganisms, making it a simple yet crucial method for public health.
