Fibrogenezí

Fibrogenezí refers to the process of formation of fibrous connective tissue. This is a fundamental biological process that occurs in response to injury, inflammation, or as a normal part of tissue development and repair. Fibroblasts, specialized cells within connective tissue, are the primary actors in fibrogenesis. Upon receiving signals, fibroblasts proliferate and differentiate into myofibroblasts, which are contractile cells.

These cells then synthesize and secrete extracellular matrix components, particularly collagen and elastin. Collagen provides tensile strength, while elastin contributes to the tissue's elasticity. The deposition and organization of these fibers are crucial for restoring tissue integrity. While fibrogenesis is essential for wound healing, excessive or uncontrolled fibrogenesis can lead to pathological conditions such as fibrosis, where excessive scar tissue accumulates and impairs organ function. Diseases like liver cirrhosis, pulmonary fibrosis, and keloid formation are examples of pathological fibrogenesis. Understanding the molecular mechanisms regulating fibrogenesis is vital for developing therapeutic strategies to manage fibrotic disorders.
