FIGOszintek

FIGOszintek, also known as FIGO stages, is a system used in gynecological oncology to classify the extent of endometrial cancer. The system is named after the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO), which developed it. The classification is based on the depth of myometrial invasion and the presence or absence of lymphovascular space invasion.

There are four main stages in the FIGOszintek system:

1. Stage I: The cancer is limited to the endometrium and has not invaded the myometrium.

2. Stage II: The cancer has invaded the myometrium but not beyond the outer half (less than 50% of the myometrial thickness).

3. Stage III: The cancer has invaded the outer half of the myometrium (more than 50% of the myometrial thickness).

4. Stage IV: The cancer has spread beyond the uterus, either to the lymph nodes or to distant organs.

The FIGOszintek system is used to guide treatment decisions and to compare outcomes between different studies. It is important to note that the FIGOszintek system is not a prognostic tool, meaning it does not predict the outcome of a particular treatment. The stage of the cancer is just one factor that doctors consider when deciding on a treatment plan.
