Eze
Èze (pronounced ehz) is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of southeastern France. It lies on the French Riviera between Nice and Monaco, perched on a rocky promontory overlooking the Mediterranean. The medieval village is known for its narrow stone streets, views over the sea, and cliffs. The site includes the Jardin Exotique d'Èze, a botanical garden with cacti and succulents, and the Château de la Chevre d'Or, a luxury hotel-and-restaurant complex anchored in the hillside. A popular hiking route, the Nietzsche Path, runs from the village to the coastal plain and is named after the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, who stayed in Èze in the 1880s.
