Et3As
Et3As, also known as trimethylarsine, is a chemical compound with the formula AsH3. It is a colorless gas with a strong, garlic-like odor, similar to that of trimethylamine. Et3As is a derivative of arsine, where all three hydrogen atoms are replaced by methyl groups. This compound is primarily used in the semiconductor industry as a dopant in the production of gallium arsenide (GaAs) and indium phosphide (InP) materials. It is also used in the synthesis of other arsenic compounds and as a reagent in organic chemistry. Et3As is highly toxic and should be handled with extreme care. Its toxicity arises from its ability to inhibit the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, leading to the accumulation of acetylcholine and subsequent neurological symptoms. Proper safety measures, including the use of personal protective equipment and ventilation, are essential when working with Et3As.
