Epäkuolleisuus, a Finnish term, translates to "undeadness" or "un-death" in English. It refers to the state of being dead yet animate, a concept prevalent in folklore, mythology, and modern fiction. Unlike living beings, the undead are characterized by their deceased bodies or souls returning to a semblance of life, often driven by supernatural forces, curses, or unresolved earthly matters.

The manifestations of epäkuolleisuus are diverse and vary greatly across different cultural narratives. Common examples include zombies, vampires, ghosts, revenants, and skeletons.
