EmergencyContactName is the name of an individual designated to be contacted in an emergency. In many information systems it is stored as part of an emergency contact record associated with a person’s profile, such as in medical records, employee databases, student information systems, or client portals. The field typically appears alongside related data such as relationship to the person, phone number, and sometimes address or email.

Data handling: The emergencyContactName is usually stored as a string. Systems may enforce length limits and allow international characters; some implementations require the name to be in a single field, while others split it into first and last name fields. Validation may prevent empty values when the field is required. It may also support multiple contacts by using a list of emergency contacts, each with its own name and related fields.

Privacy and security: Because it is personal data (PII), access should be restricted to authorized staff. Retention should align with data retention policies, and consent should be obtained where required. Data minimization suggests collecting only the information necessary to contact the individual.
