Donnersbergkreis

Donnersbergkreis is a district (Landkreis) in the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located in the Palatinate (Pfalz) region in the northern part of the state and is named after the Donnersberg, the highest mountain in the Palatinate at 686 meters. The administrative seat is Kirchheimbolanden.

Geography: The district lies in the North Palatine Uplands and encompasses rolling hills, forests, and agricultural land. The Donnersberg massif is a dominant geographic feature and a popular destination for hiking and nature.

History: The current boundaries date from the reform of Rhineland-Palatinate in the late 1960s. Donnersbergkreis was formed by merging smaller districts as part of the consolidation of local government.
