Diecezja

Diecezja is a Polish term that translates to "diocese" in English. A diocese is the territorial jurisdiction of a bishop in certain Christian denominations, primarily the Catholic Church, but also found in some Anglican and Orthodox traditions. It is the fundamental administrative unit of a church.

The head of a diocese is a bishop, who is responsible for the spiritual and administrative oversight of the region. The cathedral, the principal church of the diocese, is typically where the bishop's throne, or cathedra, is located.

The number of dioceses and their geographical boundaries can vary significantly between countries and even within different regions of the same country.

The establishment and administration of dioceses are governed by canon law within the respective church. Bishops are appointed or elected according to the church's established procedures.
